BagsterŪ Green Initiatives

At Bagster, we are committed to offering value-added services to our customers, retailers and partners, while simultaneously minimizing our impact on the environment. While we are continuously evaluating our footprint and embracing new environmental best practices, we have already implemented each of the following initiatives designed to achieve that goal.

Bagster Green InitiativesRecycling Collected Content. Bagster is working with recycling centers in select markets to recycle approximately 85% of the contents collected in our bags. In addition, the Bagster bag is recycled at these centers for reuse in other polypropylene based products.

Bagster Green InitiativesLowering Fuel Consumption. Bagster is lowering our carbon footprint relative to traditional metal dumpster rental services by reducing truck mileage by an estimated 75% per customer. We’ve achieved this by investing in sophisticated routing software and operationally efficient trucks which significantly reduce the amount of miles driven between customer collections.

Bagster Green InitiativesReducing Packaging Materials. Since launching Bagster in 2006, we have eliminated all paper inserts in our packaging and reduced the amount of plastic used in our packaging by over 50%. We are also currently researching methods to develop biodegradable poly retail packaging.

Bagster Green InitiativesMinimizing Corrugated Cardboard. We have redesigned our display systems and shipping boxes to reduce our use of corrugated cardboard by an estimated 66%.

Bagster Green InitiativesUsing Green Technologies. Bagster has further reduced our impact on the environment by implementing several technological solutions, including (i) installing a motion activated lighting system in our warehouses to reduce power consumption, (ii) implementing an electronic customer billing and vendor payment system to reduce paper waste, (iii) processing electronic payments, including credit cards and electronic checks instead of paper checks, and (iv) linking to a comprehensive website to provide customers with information on local recycling and donating centers, http://earth911.org.

Minimizing our impact on the environment is a continuous effort, and one of the most important factors by which we evaluate our success. We hope you'll return to this page regularly for updates as we pursue and embrace new sustainable initiatives.
