Community Relations
Bagster® is dedicated to supporting the communities we serve through philanthropic gifts, employee volunteerism and safe and responsible business practices. Our activities focus on issues that are important to our employees and customers, such as community restoration and beautification. Below are a few of our recent volunteer projects.
On April 26, 2008 national non-profit organization Rebuilding Together celebrated its 20th Annual National Rebuilding Day. In a first-ever partnership with the organization, Bagster supported Rebuilding Day projects in Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, Tampa and Washington DC by donating hundreds of Bagster’s signature Dumpster-in-a-Bag® and collection services, and collecting hundreds of tons of debris over a several-week-long initiative. As part of the effort, Bagster was also proud to support Rebuilding Together of Washington DC’s inclusion in HGTV’s Change the World. Start at Home campaign, which focused on revitalizing 10 homes on one street in the Anacostia neighborhood in only a week.

Less than four months after Bagster participated in a community clean-up event in Atlanta’s historic Old Fourth Ward, the locally-based company returned to the area to assist in relief efforts following the rare tornado that hit Downtown Atlanta on March 14, 2008. Bagster donated 100 of its signature Dumpster-in-a-Bag products and removed more than 50 tons of debris from homes, businesses and neighborhoods following the storm. Bagster, a two-part waste removal service, partnered with Atlanta City Councilmember Kwanza Hall, local fire stations, Hands on Atlanta, Rebuilding Together and the Fuller Center for Housing to provide Bagster bags and collection service to clean-up projects on March 22 and 29.
“Bagster has been a tremendous partner to our district,” said Councilmember Hall, whose District 2 was one of the hardest hit by the tornado. He added, “Last December, Bagster assisted us in hauling away over five tons of litter during our community clean-up, and last month, Bagster mobilized within hours of the storms that hit some of Atlanta’s most historic residential neighborhoods to help us quickly remove debris from impacted properties and clear the way for repairs and rebuilding.”

Bagster recently supported a community cleanup day organized by Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta. The historic Old Fourth Ward is the birthplace of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the location of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center. Bagster donated bags and disposal service for the cleanup, and company employees helped clear several vacant lots. In total, Bagster assisted with the removal of several tons of trash.

In November 2007, Bagster sponsored a home building project for Home for Our Troops, a non-profit organization that assists severely injured Servicemen and Women and their families by raising monetary or in-kind donations for building materials and professional labor. The organization then coordinates the process of building a new home or adapting an existing home for handicap accessibility. Bagster provided bags and disposal service for a new home build project for Sgt. Brian Fountaine in Plymouth, Mass.
